Looking for innovative vegetarian cuisine in a beautiful setting? Welcome to LOV, nestled in a magnificent heritage building in Old Montreal since last December. Forget the classic fried tofu and excess alfalfa. At LOV, local, organic products are always the focus, guaranteeing even the most discerning palates will leave satisfied.
A cocoon of freshness
Barely having crossed through the door, we are immediately seduced by the décor, conceived by Jacinthe Piotte. White brick and zinc wall, a series of straw colored lampshades, rattan swings, typewriters and suspended glass terrariums … the table is set for a warm evening in a soothing atmosphere.
Local. Organic. Veggie.
After opening her restaurant in Hawaii and touring Brazil, the Southern U.S. and British Columbia as a gourmet consultant, the friendly Executive Chef Stéphanie Audet gave herself a mission to create LOV. Leading a young, motivated team, she proposes an original menu, as unpretentious and fresh as crisp celery!
“With LOV, I have a mission: creating an inclusive kitchen that pleases everyone. I want to serve healthy food that everyone will enjoy.” Stéphanie Audet, Executive Chef at LOV
From risotto to organic wine
A special shout out to the carpaccio avocado, funghi and truffle oil. A contrasting yet balanced mix between the creamy fruit skin and the bitter mushroom. The LOV burger, already inducted into the burger hall of fame, with its brown rice bun and black beans, offers a fusion of particularly tasty flavors. Nice surprise with the cashew fauxmage (fake cheese = faux fromage…fauxmage!), a vegan delight that’s even better than a traditional slice of orange cheese!
The home-made fries made from Russet organic potatoes are delicious and paired with a sweet ketchup-like tomato sauce. The risotto is very traditional, with oyster mushrooms, beans and rich, tasty fauxmage.
To accompany the meal, a white wine (St-Vincent of the Négondos vineyard) from the organic wine menu, created by Steve Beauséjour from Quebec importer Rézin.
So, are we coming back to spend another great night at LOV? Without hesitation! As much for the tempting, delicious and diverse menu, as for the joie de vivre of Chef Stephanie!
